Born in Venice on February the 24th, 1931, Luciano Vistosi spends his childhood in Murano where his family owns a glassfactory of industrial products. When his father died Luciano stops studying and with his uncle Oreste and his brother Gino establishes the new Vetreria Vistosi with the project of realizing products closed to the most recent researches in the design field. Vetreria Vistosi starts working with some of the greater designers of the moment. The production that avail itself of the designer labels as Aulenti, Zanuso, Magistretti, Sottsass, Peduzzi Riva, Dal Lago, Meronen Beckmann, Mangiarotti, concentrate itself especially on lighting sector.
The research of Luciano Vistosi flows also in the realization of new products, in fact, he owns various lamps' collections of which we remember Neverrino, Bissa e Bissona, Onfale. Following the premature deaths of uncle Oreste and brother Gino, Vetreria Vistosi is yielded in 1980. This artistic event of Luciano Vistosi was born inside the glass factory in order to gain a proper autonomous development.
The first personal exhibition takes place in 1968 in the Gallery Alfieri of Venice. At the end of the Sixtie's he turns his attention to blown glass. At the beginning of the Sixtie's Vistosi realizes his first great sculptures in the glass factory's brickyard. From this moment Vistosi alternates the various working techniques tested by him, realizing in the course of years sculpture in blown glass and in sculptured glass block. Luciano Vistosi is a figure of importance in the world of the italian artistic research: some among the most significant italian photographers like Ugo Mulas, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Paolo Monti, Franco Fontana have interpreted with their images the innovative character of his work. Luciano Vistosi lives in Venice and works in his atelier in Murano.
